ketchum in color

“Ketchum in Color” celebrates the joy of winter in Sun Valley. Bright colors, stark contrasts, and exciting brushstrokes capture the light and life of the coldest and darkest season. Before moving to Ketchum, I had never experienced real winter—the kind where snow stays on the ground all season—and was dreading it. My idea of winter was dull and barren, any color trapped and covered by the all-consuming blanket of snow. To help myself get through it, I forced myself to find the color and brightness within winter. To my surprise, the stark white of the snow allows everything else to come through with a brighter intensity. The more I looked, the more color I found and the more I was able to see winter as beautiful and joyful. This show is a collection of my favorite places and scenes in Ketchum that allowed me to see winter this way: the bright light of snowcats grooming at night, colorful skis strewn on the ground around lunchtime, and the blur of different dogs zooming along groomed trails for an afternoon walk
